Born in a cultured Odia family, music came naturally to Ratikant. His musical talents were noticed as he picked up playing the harmonium at the tender age of five without the help of a tutor.  Ratikant earned his early identity as an instrumentalist.

A shy and self effacing kid who shunned the arc lights of the stage, Ratikant grew up to become a confident performer in his late school and college days. Winning music competitions came easy to him as Pundits and his teachers saw the early spark of talent in his winsome voice.
